Phu Quoc Food Tours
Which experience should I book if I only have one evening?
Night Bites, the evening session of the food tour, if you are twelve or older and happy on the back of a scooter. It covers the most dishes and the most of town.
If you would rather stay in one place, the Pass It On Kitchen class runs in the late afternoon and ends with dinner.
Do I pay a deposit?
No. Everything sold on this site is paid in full once your date is confirmed, by card link or bank transfer.
Nothing is charged before confirmation.
Can vegetarians join?
Both classes have a vegetarian version, using tofu and mushrooms, with a soy-based dipping sauce in place of fish sauce.
The food tour is harder, because island street food is built on seafood and fish sauce. Tell us when you book and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
Are hotel transfers included?
The food tour includes pick-up and drop-off at hotels in Duong Dong. Other areas carry a supplement quoted when you book.
For the two classes you make your own way to the kitchen; a transfer can be added for a fee.

All experiences
Can I book two experiences together?
Yes. Send one enquiry listing both and we will confirm both dates before taking payment, so you are never left with one booked and one not.
Avoid booking the food tour and a class in overlapping hours.
Is there a discount for booking more than one?
No. The prices are already set per person for each experience, and we would rather keep them simple than build bundles.
What is the smallest group you run?
One person, on all three. A single traveller on the food tour riding pillion pays the solo rate because they have a guide-driver to themselves.
Do sessions run every day?
Pass It On Kitchen runs daily. For the food tour and Roll & Brew, check your date in the booking form and we confirm availability before you pay.

Scooter Bites food tour
Can I ride my own scooter on the food tour?
Yes, if you are 18 or over and hold a 1968 Vienna Convention permit with your home motorbike licence, or a Vietnamese motorbike licence.
You also sign a rider's declaration, drink no alcohol and pass a short test ride. If not, you ride pillion and pay the USD 30 difference.
How much food is it?
Three to five tasting portions plus a drink. Most people finish satisfied without needing another meal, but it is not a banquet.
Is the morning or the evening better?
They are different meals rather than better or worse. Mornings are noodles and cooler air; evenings are seafood and a livelier town.
The morning or night page compares them point by point.
Where does the tour start?
At your hotel, if it is in Duong Dong. Hotels elsewhere on the island can be picked up for a supplement that we quote when you book.

Cooking classes
Do I need any cooking experience?
None. Both classes are built for people who have never cooked Vietnamese food.
The only step that takes practice is the steamed banh cuon in Roll & Brew.
Do I get the recipes?
Yes, both classes hand out the recipes, printed or as a file.
Is transport to the class included?
No. You make your own way to the class kitchen. A transfer can be added for a fee that we quote when you book.
Can we book a class just for our group?
Ask when you enquire. Classes are small and shared by default, with up to ten people.

Roll & Brew cooking class
What do I actually make in Roll & Brew?
Three rolls - fresh rolls, steamed banh cuon and pho rolls - their shared dipping sauce, and a cup of egg coffee.
Is this a Phu Quoc dish class?
Not mainly. The rolls and egg coffee are northern Vietnamese classics, taught on Phu Quoc. For island seafood dishes, the food tour is the better choice.
Can children join?
From age 6, with an adult, at USD 35 for ages 6 to 11. There is an egg-free coffee for young children.
Which session should I choose?
The morning class ends with lunch; the afternoon class ends with dinner. On very hot days the morning is cooler, and on a rainy afternoon this is a good place to be.

Pass It On Kitchen class
What happens to the jelly I make?
It sets overnight and is served to the next day's class, with your label on it. The jelly you eat at the start came the same way from the class before you.
Does the class run every day?
Yes, it is a daily class from 16:00. Check your date in the booking form and we confirm before you pay.
What if it rains?
In heavy rain the market walk is skipped and the ingredients are ready in the kitchen. The cooking and dinner go ahead.
Can I take this class with young children?
From age 6, with an adult, at USD 39 for ages 6 to 11. The market walk is about a kilometre in total at an easy pace.

What to eat
What is the one dish to try on Phu Quoc?
For breakfast, bun quay, where you mix your own sauce. For dinner, goi ca trich, the herring salad rolled in rice paper.
When do street food stalls open?
Breakfast stalls from about six in the morning until mid-morning; evening grills from about five. The middle of the day is quiet.
Is the seafood safe to eat?
Busy places that cook in front of you are the safest bet. Eat seafood where it is grilled or boiled to order, and skip anything that has been sitting out in the heat.

Food tour or cooking class
Which is better for a couple?
Night Bites, riding pillion, if you are comfortable on a scooter. Pass It On Kitchen if you would rather stay in one place and cook dinner together.
Which is better for a family?
A cooking class. Children from 6 can join either class with an adult, at a reduced rate, while the food tour starts at 12.
Can I do the food tour and a class on the same day?
Morning Bites and the afternoon Roll & Brew fit, as do Morning Bites and Pass It On Kitchen. Avoid Night Bites with the afternoon classes, which overlap.
Read in full: Food tour or cooking class.
Morning or night
Is the price different morning and night?
No. The price depends only on whether you ride pillion or ride yourself.
Which session is better for photos?
Morning, for the light and the steam from the noodle pots. Night, if you want grills and street lights.
Can I do both sessions?
Yes, on different days. The menus are completely different, so nothing repeats.
Read in full: Morning or night.
Vegetarian and allergies
Is the food tour suitable for vegans?
Not really. Street broths and grills use fish sauce, shrimp paste and animal stock. A cooking class with the vegetarian version is the better choice.
Which food tour session is easier with a mild seafood allergy?
Morning Bites. Breakfast broths are often seafood-based, but there are more choices without seafood at breakfast than at an evening grill. Tell us first.
Can the egg coffee be made without egg?
Yes. There is an egg-free alternative, offered as standard to pregnant guests and young children and to anyone who asks.
Read in full: Vegetarian and allergies.
Prices
Are prices per person or per group?
Per person, for every experience.
Do children pay less?
In the two cooking classes, yes: USD 35 for Roll & Brew and USD 39 for Pass It On Kitchen, ages 6 to 11. The food tour has no child rate because the minimum age is 12.
Why is the solo pillion price higher?
Because a single guest still needs a guide-driver and a bike to themselves, and there is nobody to share that cost with.
Can I pay in Vietnamese dong?
Prices are set in US dollars. Ask when you book if you would rather pay in dong by bank transfer and we will quote the amount.

How to book
How far ahead should I book?
A few days ahead is usually enough. In busy periods, book as soon as you know your dates, especially for Night Bites.
Is my booking confirmed when I send the form?
No. It is confirmed when we reply with a confirmation, and paid when you settle it. Nothing is charged before that.
Can I book for someone else?
Yes. Put their name and a phone number we can reach them on during their stay in the note.
What if my flight is delayed and I miss the session?
Tell us as soon as you know. If there is space in a later session we move you. A missed session without notice counts as a no-show.

About us
Are you a tour operator?
We are the booking brand. Each experience is operated by the team named on its page: Authentic Phu Quoc for the food tour, O Hên Cooking Class for Roll & Brew, and Madam Mận Cooking Class for Pass It On Kitchen.
Why only three experiences?
Because three that are clearly different cover what most visitors want from food on the island, and we can describe three properly.
Why are there no reviews on the site?
Because we will not write or buy them. Real reviews, shared with permission, will appear when we have them.
Read in full: About us.
Contact
Do you have a phone line?
Email and the enquiry form are the way to reach us before booking. Once you have booked, the guide or teacher contacts you on the number you give us.
Can I visit an office?
We do not run a walk-in office. Everything is arranged by message, and the experiences start at your hotel or at the class kitchen.
How do I check my driving permit before choosing self-ride?
Look for the convention printed on the permit. It must be the 1968 Vienna Convention, carried with your home licence showing a motorbike category.
If it says 1949 Geneva, book pillion instead.
